We continued our learning in structure of matter where we learnt about the giant covalent structures and metallic lattices.

BONDING & PROPERTIES (IMPORTANT CONCEPTS)

1. giant covalent tetrahedral has only strong covalent bonds (e.g. diamond - 1 C : 4 C)

2. giant covalent layered has both covalent bonds and weak intermolecular FOA between layers (e.g. graphite - 1 C : 3 C)

3. giant metallic lattice has strong electrostatic FOA (only found in metallic ELEMENTS!)
